A delicious and rich cheesesteak garlic bread boat featuring thinly sliced steak, sautéed bell peppers and onions, provolone cheese, and a flavorful garlic herb butter, all baked into an Italian or French loaf.
1. Heat around 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add in the bell peppers and continue to cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, season with a pinch more of salt & pepper.
2. Pat the steak dry and heat up a pan over medium-high heat with 2 tablespoons of neutral oil. Once hot add in the sliced steak, season with salt & pepper, and cook for approximately 5-6 minutes until browned. Add in 2 slices of provolone cheese and stir to combine until melted, approximately 1-2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
3. Pre-heat the oven to 500F (260C). Cut the loaf in half. Using one half, remove some of the bread to create the boat-like shape.
4. In a microwave-safe bowl melt together the butter and minced garlic cloves. Add in the fresh chopped parsley.
5. Fill the boat: Brush most of the garlic herb butter onto the bread. Add the steak, brush with some more garlic butter, then add the veggies and finally, top with 5-6 slices of cheese.
6. Bake for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbling. Keep a close eye on it—this can go from perfect to burnt in seconds! Top with a final slap of garlic butter and slice it up.
